Energy-Saving Rebates
*Rebate program changes effective July 1, 2025 unless otherwise noted:
REBATE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a member in good standing with the cooperative
- Rebates shall be offered to members of West Central Electric Cooperative who reside in a permanent residential structure constructed on a solid foundation on property owned by the member and served by the cooperative.
- Rebates are limited to eligible services (homes, lake homes, shops, barns, etc.) using 6,000 kWh or more per year.
- Rebates not to exceed 50% of total cost
- No rebates will be given for equipment which does not meet the criteria for this program, as established by West Central Electric Cooperative and Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc.
- Used equipment does not qualify for a rebate.
- Application for rebates must be filed WITHIN 90 DAYS OF PURCHASE of the equipment for which the rebate is being requested.
- Appliance rebates may be subject to cooperative load control programs. The participant agrees to allow the cooperative to control their heating and cooling equipment now or in the future.
- Rebates are subject to change at any time. Rebates for the following equipment will qualify under the following terms and conditions:
Residential Electric Vehicle Level 2 Charging Station
*This rebate will be discontinued on Jan. 1, 2026
- Equipment must be new and UL approved/certified.
- Must be “level 2” type charger (16-80 amps or 7-19 kW)
- Rebate cannot be used for electrician fees or infrastructure upgrades.
- Purchased charger must be $500 or more.
- The cooperative reserves the right to complete an on-site inspection of the charger after installation.
- Limit two (2) rebates per member address
Rebate up to $250.00
Residential Heat Pump Water Heaters (or Hybrid Water Heater)
- Must be Energy Star rated
- This rebate includes new construction, the replacement of an existing electric water heater that is less than 0.90 efficiency with a unit that is greater than 0.90 efficient, or replacement of a gas water heater.
- Tankless or gas water heaters are NOT eligible.
- Limit two (2) per member address
Rebate up to $750.00
Residential Ground Source Heat Pump (NEW, first-time installation of a GSHP)
- Equipment must be installed by a certified dealer and meet the criteria.
- The ground source heat pump shall be sized to a minimum Delta T of 70. (A Manual J load calculation MUST be submitted to support the Delta T. A copy of AHRI certificate is required.)
- The heat pump must be qualified with an ENERGY STAR rating and meet the following efficiency standard for rebates: ENERGY STAR+2 rating
- Electric back up heat will be allowed only if the backup heat is separated from the heat pump by the installation of a separate breaker or switch.
- DX (direct expansion) Ground Source Heat Pumps DO NOT QUALIFY
Rebate $750.00 per ton
Residential Ground Source Heat Pump Indoor Replacement ONLY
- Equipment must be installed by a certified dealer and meet the criteria.
- Rebate is for the replacement of the indoor ground-source heat pump unit only and does not include loop system.
- If the heat pump (compressor) unit is replaced, it must be a gain of 3 EER ratings.
- DX (direct expansion) Ground Source Heat Pumps DO NOT QUALIFY
Rebate $150.00 per ton
Residential Dual Fuel Air Source Heat Pump & Mini-Split (DUCTED)
- Equipment must be equipped with a new or existing fossil fuel backup heat source.
- Equipment must be installed by a certified dealer and meet the ENERGY STAR Cold Climate Requirement rating of 8.1 HSPF2 or greater.
- Only ducted equipment (mini splits or traditional heat pumps) is eligible.
- The heat pump may be used to replace existing heat pumps, electric resistance or fossil fuel equipment in the home.
Rebate $300.00 per ton (replacement system with EXISTING fossil fuel backup)
Rebate $500.00 per ton (NEW system with NEW FOSSIL FUEL backup)
Residential DUCTLESS Mini-Split Heat Pump
- CANNOT be equipped with electric auxiliary heat
- Equipment must be installed by a certified dealer and meet the ENERGY STAR minimum rating of 15.2 SEER2.
- Limited to two condensing units per meter
- Mini split cannot be equipped with auxiliary/backup electric heat.
- Mini split must be a ductless system and therefore cannot be connected to any ductwork.
- The mini split may be used to replace or supplement existing heat pumps, electric resistance or fossil fuel equipment in the home.
Rebate $150.00 per condensing unit
Residential Energy Star Advanced Programmable Thermostat
- Must be an Energy Star rated thermostat
- Can be used with any type of heating and cooling system
- Limit of up to two (2) per member address/location
- Rebates are available for existing and new homes.
- The rebate amount is limited to 50 percent (50%) of the total cost of the unit.

50/50 COST SHARE PROGRAMS:
Basement/Crawl Space/Slab Insulation (with GSHP install)
- This program is a 50/50 cost-shared incentive for cooperative members who are installing insulation in conjunction with the installation of a new ground source heat pump.
- Limit of up to two (2) per member address/location
- Rebates are available for existing and new homes.
- The rebate amount is limited to 50 percent (50%) of the total cost of the unit.
Incentive up to $500
Home Energy Weatherization Improvement
- This program is a 50/50 cost-shared incentive for cooperative members for weatherization improvements done in conjunction with an approved energy audit.
- On new homes, it is recommended that the audit take place after the home is sealed and before sheetrock and insulation have been installed.
- A separate audit entry must be completed for each installation site.

Energy Audits--Residential
- The audit report identifies opportunities to improve the performance of your home based on the analysis.
- The home energy program may also provide for incentives for up to 50 percent of the costs of qualifying measures.
- Energy audits may be done at varying levels of intensity, depending on the member’s needs. The more intense audits will require a 50-50 cost share between the member and cooperative.
- Member must contract with a BPI certified auditor to perform the audit. For a complete list of auditors, see the Missouri Department of Natural Resources energy auditors list or contact the WCE Member Services Department at 800-491-3803.
- After the audit is complete, be sure to apply for a weatherization rebate.

Small Commercial & Industrial, School Energy Audits
- This program is for commercial, school and industrial facilities that have basic energy usage and that use less than 500 kW per month. 50-50 cost share.
- Incentive based on cost of the audit

Energy Audits--Industrial, Commercial & School
- West Central Electric Cooperative personnel will work with industrial and commercial members in arranging energy audits for these facilities.
- This program is for commercial, school and industrial facilities that use greater than 50 kW per month and have more complex energy usage and needs.
- The cost of the audit shall be determined on a case-by-case basis.
- 50-50 cost share
- Incentive based on annual peak demand consumption

HIGH-EFFICIENCY LIGHTING REBATES:
Business Lighting
- This program is for C&I, schools and agricultural facilities that want to install high-efficiency lighting.
- West Central Electric Cooperative shall assist its members in applying for business lighting rebates in accordance and cooperation with Associated Electric Cooperative’s “Take Control and Save Program.”
