Safety Presentations

Teaching about the dangers of electricity and how to stay safe around electricity is a top priority at West Central Electric Cooperative. Therefore, we offer several safety programs and demonstrations appropriate for all ages from preschool children to adults.

We can come and talk to your class, organization meeting or place of employment!

We can tailor our safety programs to any age or group, with a variety of topics, videos and a real-life electrical safety display which physically demonstrates the things electricity can do. We also have a variety of youth safety programs that we will bring to your school classroom, group or organization meeting.

Preschool
Willie Wiredhand teaches preschool children not to touch electrical outlets, to stay away from power lines and electrical boxes, and to always ask a grown-up when something needs to be plugged in or unplugged. The presentation includes a drawing of Willie for children to color, reminding them to "Play it safe! Never touch an outlet. Always ask an adult!"

Elementary School
Lower elementary-school-age children will see a video titled, "Kato's Electrical Safety Video Adventure," which gives them the basics of staying safe around electricity. Upper elementary-school-age children will see a presentation titled, "How does electricity happen?" This presentation teaches students what electricity is, how it is produced and how it gets to their homes, churches, stores and schools. Also available is a real-life safety display which physically demonstrates the things electricity can do.

Junior High and High School
Junior high and high school students will see a real-life safety display which physically demonstrates the things electricity can do.

Community Groups
From 4-H groups to senior citizens' groups such as AARP, we can create a program for your meeting that will both entertain and inform.

On-the-Job
We will come to your business and present a safety program related to your employees and the electrical safety issues thy may face in the workplace or on the job site. Topics include electrical safety in the work place, contractor safety, electrical safety for fire departments, farm and ranch electrical safety and more.
